Free Wireless Internet Access at the Civic Center

The City of Upland is providing FREE wireless Internet access in the Upland Public Library, Upland City Hall, and the Civic Center Courtyard.  Getting online is quick and simple.  All you need is a wireless enabled laptop computer, tablet PC or PDA and your Upland Public Library card.  User name: Upland Library Card #. Password is Last 4 digits of your phone #.  You are responsible for setting up your own equipment; there are no staff available to assist you with setting up wireless on your computer.  Wireless users are subject to the terms outlined in the Internet Use Policy.

Limitations and Disclaimers:
The City's wireless network is not secure.  Information sent from or to your laptop can be captured by anyone else with a wireless device and the appropriate software, within three hundred feet.

City staff is not able to provide detailed technical assistance and no guarantee can be provided that you will be able to make a wireless connection.

The City assumes no responsibility for the safety of equipment or for laptop configurations, security, or data files resulting from connections to the Library's network.


Public Computers with Internet Access

The Library has Internet-enabled workstations with automated sign-up for public use! You need a valid Upland Public Library card to log onto the computers.They also have a variety of software programs installed, such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel. Some computers are in the Children's Department and are loaded with educational games for kids. You may use these FREE Internet computers for one hour per day. In a hurry? Try our 15-minute Express computers instead.  For minors to obtain Internet access, a parent must come into the Library and sign the Internet Registration Agreement (pdf).


Print Outs

Black-and-white printouts cost $0.15 per single-sided page; color printouts cost $0.75 per single-sided page.

Word Processing Computers

The Library offers the use of word processing computers free of charge. They are located in the Student Center (lower floor) and in the Youth Services Department (upper floor). These Windows XP computers are loaded with Microsoft Office, which includes Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Excel. Some also have a typing improvement program if you need to get up to speed.

Online Database Computers

Two computers are available exclusively for searching databases to which the Library subscribes. Need tax forms? The California Franchise Tax Board and the Internal Revenue Service web sites can also be accessed through these computers.

Microforms Reader-Printer

A reader-printer for microfiche and microfilm is available on the lower level of the Library. Viewing is free, but printouts cost $0.25 per page. A vendor print card is needed and is available at the Reference and Children's Desks for $0.50 per card; value must be added at the card readers.


The Upland Public Library is installing two new self-service photocopiers, one on each level. Please bring dollar bills or coins in US currency. Black-and-white copies are $0.15 per single-sided page; color copies are $0.75 per single-sided page and only available on the Lower Level machine. Vendor cards ($0 value) are also available at the Reference and Children's Desks for $0.50 per card; value must be added at the card readers. Self Checkout

The Self Check-Out Station for books is located next to the public computers in the Youth Services Department on the Upper Level. You may check out your own books without waiting in line at the Circulation Desk. A receipt will be printed for all the items you check out. Library cards must be in good standing; you can update your account at the Circulation Desk.
