Councilmember Gino Filippi

Term of Office 2010-2014

Mayor John V. PomierskiCouncil member Gino L. Filippi was born at San Antonio Community Hospital 52 years ago and has lived in Upland/San Antonio Heights for nearly 40 years.  He is a marketing/business development consultant and is co-owner of Filippi Winery and was instrumental in preserving the wine heritage in the area attaining U.S. Department Treasury approval of "Cucamonga Valley” as an official American Viticultural Area. Additionally, his column “Off the Vine” is published in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin newspaper and he is wine writer for Foothills Magazine.  He is a regional expert on the history of Southern California grapegrowing and a leader in preserving its rich history and culture for others to enjoy.

His community service record of 20 years includes the Rotary Club, Global Community Healthcare Organization-Upland, Los Angeles County Fair Association Board, Route 66 Community Gardens & Vineyard, and the Cooper Regional History Museum Upland.  He also works closely with the League of California Cities to restore and protect local control enhancing the quality of life for Uplanders.  

Councilmember Filippi was elected to the City Council in November 2010.  He serves on the City/School Committee, the Public Works Committee, and from time to time serves on City Ad Hoc Subcommittees.  He was appointed to represent the City Council on the Upland Library Board, Sister City Association and Traffic Safety Committee.  He serves as a member of the County Solid Waste Task Force.
