Literacy Department

The Literacy Program of the Upland Public Library is committed to providing positive experiences and life long learning to the Community. At Upland Public Library we want to help adults change their lives for the better and move one step closer to fulfilling their potential and reaching their dreams. We offer two basic Adult Literacy programs.
Basic Adult Literacy and ESL Conversation both provided free of charge. After assessment of skills students are provided a tutor in a one-on-one tutoring setting, to improve their basic reading and writing or speaking skills.
Trained volunteer tutors meet with students once or twice a week, at a time convenient for both.

"A library outranks any other one thing a community can do to benefit its people. It is a never failing spring in the desert.”
-- Andrew Carnegie
